The Columbia Stem Cell Initiative (CSCI) is committed to supporting its members through program enrichment activities and scientific interactions to foster a collegial approach to stem cell research. The level of membership is dictated by the level of involvement in CSCI programmatic activities. As a full member or affiliate member, you will have preferential access to CSCI core facilities to support your research activities. As a member you will also contribute to CSCI Faculty Meetings and be eligible to apply for programmatic seed funds.

Full Member

  • Invitations to all CSCI scientific and social activities (Seminar, Work-in-Progress (WIP) Talks, Retreat, Happy Hour, etc.)
  • Preferential access to CSCI core facilities
  • Listed on the CSCI website
  • Publications and news listed on the CSCI website
  • Direct scientific feedback during CSCI Faculty Meetings
  • Eligible for seed funds
  • Complimentary access for occasional use of the CSCI Conference Room

Affiliate Member

  • Invitations to all CSCI scientific and social activities (Seminar, WIP talks, Retreat, Happy Hour, etc.)
  • Preferential access to CSCI core facilities
  • Listed on the CSCI website
  • Publications and news listed on the CSCI website
  • Discounted rate for occasional use of the CSCI Conference Room

Expectations and Criteria

Only Columbia faculty are eligible to apply. The director reviews applications for membership and performs an annual review of the level of member participation. Full members are asked to vote on new affiliation requests. The criteria are as follows:

Full Members

  • Active participation in CSCI scientific and social activities (PI/trainees attendance required)
  • Nomination of 2 trainees per year for CSCI WIP talks
  • Acknowledgement of CSCI core facilities and seed fund support in publications
  • Attendance to CSCI Faculty Meetings & voting rights on new full member applications
  • Contribution to CSCI committees (Seminar, WIP talks, Faculty Search, Retreat, etc.)
  • Co-hosting CSCI Happy Hour

Affiliate Members

  • Participation in CSCI scientific and social activities
  • Nomination of 1 trainee per year for CSCI WIP talks
  • Acknowledgement of CSCI core facilities in publications
